Throughout the 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s, Ann and Nancy Wilson from the band Heart rocked the music charts. (Not sure who Heart is? Dog & Butterfly is a soft cover picture book that not only tells a wonderful story but also features beautiful illustrations. The story is about a little white dog who refuses to give up on his dream of befriending a butterfly. He plays and chases and finally catches his dream. It makes a perfect book to read just before bed or anytime your child might need a little pick-me-up of confidence! The illustrations also tell the story very well and are drawn in colorful watercolor paints. Now if “Dog & Butterfly sounds familiar to you, it is because Heart originally recorded it and it was a hit song on the double platinum album Dog & Butterfly! To celebrate this new book, Heart has re-recorded a bran-new version of Dog & Butterfly that you can download with the purchase of the book. And yes the book is based on the song lyrics!

Baby Guitars (Amazon.com Exclusive) is a lullaby CD that even though says on the CD “Acoustic Instrumentals for babies to fall asleep to” it would be perfect for adults too. Now I am not usually a instrumental music lover, but this CD was so soothing for me, that I can only imagine the peacefulness a baby would feel from it. Baby Guitars includes 10 beautiful compositions and stunning guitar work that is similar to Nancy’s work on the musical scores of films such as Jerry Maguire, Almost Famous, and Vanilla Sky. There are even two songs from the Elizabethtown score soundtrack and the movie P.S. I Love You. Until now, the only people to hear this whole CD are family members who received home-burned copies to commemorate the birth of their children. Now Nancy Wilson wants to share the CD with everyone! It really is a wonderful and soothing “melodic collection of acoustic lullabies.”

I would recommend both Dog & Butterfly and “Baby Guitars” for anyone who loves Heart, is looking for a perfect gift for a new mom, or just looking for a great gift for their own children.
